Diversity

At Otterbourg, we believe in the value of a diverse work environment, where lawyers with different backgrounds, life experiences and cultural perspectives enhance our creativity and ability to provide the highest quality legal services to our clients. One of the most significant goals we have set for ourselves is to recruit and develop a diverse group of talented attorneys who will contribute to the long term success of the Firm and its clients. We welcome women and multicultural attorneys and law students and all other highly motivated and qualified candidates through our associate recruitment and summer associate programs (see Careers and Summer Associate Program).

In keeping with our Diversity Policy, we provide training to all personnel on the importance of diversity and avoiding harassment and discrimination within the Firm. We have established a Diversity Action Committee (DAC) that meets regularly to recommend specific initiatives and programs to further our diversity objectives. The DAC is comprised of the Chairman of the Firm and volunteers drawn from our shareholders and associates.

We are proud to be one of seventeen private law firms participating in the Sponsors for Educational Opportunity Career Program in Corporate Law (SEO). For more than twenty-five years, SEO has provided internship opportunities at the most prestigious law firms in New York City to promising students of color.

Through our recruitment programs, our Diversity Action Committee, our SEO participation and the support given to those efforts by the Firm’s management, we are actively working to enhance diversity at Otterbourg. By continuing to takes these steps, we believe we will continue to grow stronger and more successful, building upon our long history of excellence in the legal profession to meet the challenges of today and tomorrow.
