NEW YORK, NY--Otterbourg, Steindler, Houston & Rosen, P.C., a law firm that focuses on the representation of financial institutions and creditors, including commercial banks, investment banks, asset-based lenders, hedge funds, insurance companies and other investors, is celebrating its 100th anniversary.
Otterbourg was founded in New York City by three young lawyers, Edwin M. Otterbourg, Emanuel M. Steindler and Charles A. Houston on February 9, 1909 and has grown steadily during its 100-year history.
Throughout the years, Otterbourg lawyers and alumni have held positions in government and on the bench, as well as leadership roles in professional, community and charitable organizations. Continuing its tradition of charitable giving, the firm is establishing the Otterbourg Centennial Scholarship at New York University School of Law to commemorate the Centennial and assist law students interested in areas of the law relating to finance.
"We're very proud that, even in these trying times, the firm continues to provide sound legal advice and practical solutions to our clients as it has throughout the various economic cycles of the past century," stated Daniel Wallen, Otterbourg’s Chairman. "We have a long tradition of stability, and unlike many firms today, are well-positioned to continue the high standards for legal services to our clients established by our founders 100 years ago,” Mr. Wallen added.
Otterbourg attorneys help clients with the structuring and documentation of loan transactions, acquisitions, litigation and alternative dispute resolution, technology, real estate transactions, workouts, restructurings and bankruptcy proceedings. The firm has particular expertise in leverage finance, asset based lending and second lien loans, in the United States and cross-border, as well as the representation of committees of unsecured creditors in large and complex bankruptcy reorganization cases throughout the United States. Otterbourg is well known for its representation of individual institutional lenders, bank groups, commercial enterprises and other secured and unsecured creditors in complex, high profile litigation. It is also co-general counsel for the Commercial Finance Association.
